Actiontec HWE05490-01

The Actiontec HWE05490-01 is a 54 Mbps wireless ethernet adapter, or 802.11g wireless access point. It adds a wireless network to an ethernet network via an ethernet port, with no additional drivers required, only an initial configuration.

The initial configuration is done using Actiontec Connection 1-2-3, which is included on disc with the device. It does not offer routing capability, so to share an internet connection there must be an existing wired router, or some sort of software-based Internet connection sharing must be setup. The device is somewhat outdated, as it only supports WEP encryption, which has been proven to be faulty.
