DD-WRT
Released January, 2009
The Pros:Huge community, lots of support information. Many useful features for network administrators. Ability to over/underclock processor (depends on router).
The Cons:Has the potential to brick a router. Can be tricky to install--not for all users or the faint-of-heart.
DD-WRT is not actually a product, it is a 3rd party firmware for routers, which, in many cases, adds much more functionality to the router. More information can be found here.
