TRENDnet TEW-690AP

The TRENDnet TEW-690AP is a network router advertised to offer fast wireless and wired connection speeds. Whilst its hefty price tag and length title might seem like the product has a lot to offer, a closer look at its list of features says otherwise.

The TEW-690AP is advertised with the theoretical maximum wireless N speed of 450Mbps as well as gigabit (1000Mb) ethernet capabilities which matches or exceeds many current routers, but unlike other routers within the same price bracket, the TEW-690AP does not have dual radio capabilities nor does it feature any USB ports for network printer or storage solutions. It does offer a full range of wireless security features including WPA2 and WPA encryption standards as well as  Wifi Protected Setup (WPS) for simple and secure network connectivity. More advanced features consist of WDS bridging, QoS, and the ability to setup 4 SSIDs each with their own security options.
