Product Shot 1 The Pros:VoIP Functionality. Talk and Surf at the same time. Voice queues and text readout to help simple troubleshooting is an advanced feature relative to past offerings.

The Cons:Adapter is proprietary to Vonage. Apparently, the Vonage device is extremely acceptable to electromagnetic interference which causes it to malfunction. The device cannot be placed near other networking, computer or similar equipment. Improper shielding is characteristic of the poor design of this unit. Looks like it was built in the 50s.

Vonage does not support distinctive ring for devices like FAX machines. Distinctive ring allows a FAX machine to automatically know if the calls is a FAX or not, to determine if it should answer or not. Other companies offer this.

Solarian: #vonage_vdv21_vd I don't know who is worse Verizon FiOS or this Vonage device. Verizon FiOS Internet assigns gateway addresses outside the subnet they assign. The Vonage device does not support gateway addresses outside the subnet assigned. The work around is assigning the Vonage device a bigger subnet that encompasses the gateway, which is wrong. The Cisco Linksys supported this configuration, but Vonage no longer supplies Cisco Linksys. Vonage has not been responsive to fixing this defect. Jun 3, 10
